Active Aging Nutrients Test

The Active Aging Nutrients Test measures three key nutrients (vitamin D, vitamin B12 and omega-3 fatty acids), that are essential for maintaining healthy cellular pathways to help promote aging well.

Vitamin D is important for bone, muscle and heart health, and helps support healthy inflammation pathways and immune system health. It's an essential nutrient that every one of us needs to be healthy, and most people do not get enough. The desirable range for vitamin D in the blood is 30-60 ng/ml.

Vitamin B12 is important for many cellular pathways related to energy production and nervous system health, and is more difficult for our bodies to absorb as we age. If vitamin B12 levels are low, a substance called methylmalonic acid (MMA) builds up and is found in the urine. The desirable range for MMA levels, indicating a healthy vitamin B12 status, is 0.3–2.0 mmol/mol creatinine.

Long-chain omega-3 fatty acids like eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) are crucial for brain function, heart health, immune health, and inflammation pathways. They are essential fats that our bodies cannot produce on their own, but more than 95% of us don't consume enough omega-3s in our diets. The omega-3 index measures the amount of EPA and DHA in the red blood cell, and a desirable range is 8-12%.

1: MEASURE: Knowing your levels of vitamin D, vitamin B12 and omega-3 fatty acids is the first step toward a healthier lifestyle.

2: MODIFY: With your nutrient test results, you will receive guidance on the next steps you can take to personalize intake or to make lifestyle changes.

3: MONITOR: Track how your dietary and/or lifestyle changes affect your nutritional status by testing regularly.

The Active Aging Nutrients Test contains 2 sample collection kits. The first is a blood spot kit for measuring vitamin D and omega-3 fatty acids. The second is a urine collection kit for measuring vitamin B12. Both kits must be registered, used and mailed back in the same envelope in order to receive results for all three tests.
